“Christmas in July” is no longer just an awkward office party:  72 per cent of Australians are kicking off their Christmas shopping as early as July.

EMBARGOED UNTIL 15:00 TUESDAY 17 JUNE 2025: Amazon Australia today announced 168 hours of savings will be on offer with the return of the anticipated Prime Day sale event, running longer than ever before. This year, Prime members will enjoy more time to find savings, with the event running for 7 big days — from 12:01AM AEST Tuesday 8 July until 11:59PM AEST Monday 14 July. Shoppers can expect big deals across hundreds of thousands of products, covering every category and eligible for Prime fast and free delivery options.

From must-have tech and kitchen appliances to everyday essentials, toys, fashion, beauty, books, and more, Prime Day will unlock deep discounts from top global and local brands like Adidas, Amazon Devices including Echo & Alexa, Kindle, Fire TV, Ring, Blink and eero, Anker, Apple, Bissell, Cocobella, Cosrx, De’Longhi, Dyson, Ecovacs, Eufy, Huggies, Joseph Joseph, KitchenAid, Koala, L’Oreal Paris, La Roche-Posay, Lacoste, LEGO, Meta Quest, New Balance, Nivea, Ninja, OMO, Paula’s Choice, Phillips, PlayStation, Prism+, Puma, Quilton, Renpho, Roborock, Samsung, Scrub Daddy, Shark, Skechers, Sodastream, Sony, Step One, Swisse, The North Face, Xbox and more. Prime members will also be able to support local while saving big with small and medium Australian brands taking part with big deals across the event, such as Givewrap, the Aussie wrapping paper brand that donates to charity.

Prime Day arrives at the perfect time for Aussies looking to make their money go further, with new research undertaken by YouGov for Amazon Australia revealing 9 out of 10 Australians looking to be more tactical and considered with their purchases in 2025.

The research findings show that Australians don’t just shop, they strategise, and they have never been savvier when it comes to making purchases. Almost half (47 per cent) of Australians are regularly tracking prices before buying a product. Many are even going further, with 30 per cent actively monitoring big-ticket items for four weeks or more and 43 per cent willing to stay up late to secure the best deals. When it comes to gifts, Australians are just as switched on with nearly three out of four Christmas gift buyers (72 per cent) saying they would shop as early as July if the discounts were right.

Arno Lenior, Director of Amazon Prime, APAC said, “We’re bringing Prime members our longest Prime Day yet to offer even more time to score savings. We know Aussie shoppers are more strategic than ever, waiting for the right moment to buy and looking to make their budgets go further. Prime Day gives them that opportunity – across hundreds of thousands of products, brands they trust, and incredible value from start to finish, including fast and free delivery options."

“Prime Day is a great chance to get ahead on your Christmas shopping and save some money, especially since lots of people are planning early these days. Aussies are pretty clever when it comes to finding good deals, so we hope this sale helps stretch their dollars even further.”

New Trends to Watch This Prime Day

  • Stocking up to cut costs: With cost-of-living pressures still top of mind, Australians are turning to bulk buying as a smart way to stretch their budgets. From household staples like toilet paper and laundry detergent to go-to snacks and pantry must-haves, shoppers are using sale events like Prime Day to save on the items that keep homes humming.
  • Bigger, better beauty tech: From LED face masks to microcurrent tools, beauty-tech has become a staple in Aussie bathrooms. With online trends in biohacking and anti-ageing propelling high-tech beauty products to the top of TikTok feeds, this is tipped to be a popular purchase for many.
  • Romantasy Reigns: The rise of romantasy is showing no signs of slowing, with dragons, fairies, and fantasy-fueled love stories dominating bookshelves across Australia. Beloved by Gen X and Millennial readers alike and boosted by vibrant online fan communities, these page-turners are expected to be a hot pick in Prime Day book hauls.
  • Snack-size fitness: With many juggling work and home, quick workouts are in. Expect portable fitness gear like resistance bands, ankle weights, and under-desk treadmills to be big - with more savings to come on these small-space heroes.
  • Gourmet at home: With dining out still a luxury for many, Australians are turning their kitchens into gourmet zones. Expect Prime Day deals on air fryers, sous vide machines and culinary tools of the trade.
  • Sustainability wins: Eco-friendly swaps continue to grow, with products like shampoo bars, beeswax wraps, compost bins and refillable cleaning products climbing the charts. Look for this trend to be reflected on Prime Day with the new Climate Pledge Friendly initiative helping members shop products with more sustainability features.
