SYDNEY - 21 June, 2023 – The countdown begins to Amazon Australia’s Prime Day event. From 11 July at 00:01AM AEST, Prime members can score low prices on products across all categories including electronics, homewares, Amazon devices, everyday essentials, beauty, video games, toys, sports equipment and more. New deals will drop throughout the event, with discounts on top products from much loved brands and more deals than last year’s event from Amazon’s selling partners, many of which are small and medium-sized businesses.

The much anticipated shopping event will see local deals running for 48 hours from 00:01AM AEST 11 July, until 11:59PM AEST on 12 July. Deals from Germany, Japan, UK and US will be available on Amazon.com.au through Amazon Global Store until 5:00PM AEST on 13 July, giving Australian Prime members access to a massive 65 hours of deals – the world’s longest Amazon Prime Day.

Amazon Prime Day couldn’t come at a better time for Australian shoppers, as research commissioned by Amazon reveals that 89% of surveyed Aussies are still treating themselves to discretionary items, with 45% saying that they wait for products to go on sale to do so.  There’s no doubt that Aussies are on the hunt for a good deal with one in three (32%) respondents saying they are more focused on bargain hunting now due to the cost of living situation and one in five (20%) purchasing discretionary items during key calendar sales periods.

Arno Lenior, Director of Amazon Prime in Australia said, “Prime Day has saved Australian members millions of dollars over the years and we look forward to offering them huge savings again this year.  Aussies are looking for value, whether that be on the everyday essentials or on something for themselves, and we are proud to bring them discounts on a huge range of brands and products this Prime Day.”

Customers who have not tried Prime can unlock a 30-day free trial at amazon.com.au/prime to participate in Amazon Prime Day and to unlock the many year-round benefits. From day one of membership, members in eligible postcodes will have access to free delivery on millions of local and international Prime eligible items, with FREE One-Day Delivery on eligible items for Prime members in most areas of Melbourne and Sydney; access to Amazon Original series on Prime Video such as Daisy Jones & The Six, Citadel, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Australian Amazon Original series; The Test Season 1 and 2, Deadloch, Luxe Listings Sydney Season 1-3, and other popular movies and TV shows; access to 100 million songs ad-free in shuffle mode with Amazon Music and more.

Prime members will have access to deals across more than one hundred thousand products from brands, including Bose, Crocs, Casio, Ecovacs, Delonghi, Dove, Instant Pot, Lego, Miele, Nike, Nintendo, Omo, Samsung, Quilton, The North Face. Small local businesses will also feature items in the shopping event including Perth based beauty brand with Australian made products that are vegan, AntiBeauty; Victoria based sparkling soda maker with sustainability at its core, Twenty39; and Perth founded TikTok trending hair styling tool, Mermade Hair.

Tara Simich, Founder of Mermade Hair said, “As a relatively new business based in WA, we love the reach Prime Day gives us. Prime membership gives Prime members the benefit of free and fast delivery on eligible products and when you combine that with the discounts we offer during their massive shopping event, it makes it a hard offer to turn down.”

Enhancing customer delivery; creating jobs for Australians
Since last Amazon Prime Day Amazon Australia has continued to grow and invest in  its operations network to enable a seamless, faster, and reliable shopping experience for customers across the country. This includes the opening of a purpose-built sort centre in Craigieburn, Melbourne which has the capacity to process up to 160,000 packages a day. The sort centre, sees already picked-and-packed customers orders sorted by final destination, consolidated and, shipped to one of Amazon’s 11 delivery hubs or to third-party carriers for more efficient delivery customers. The company also opened two new logistics sites in Bella Vista and Gosford, NSW enabling faster delivery to customers in those regions with Amazon Flex (the service that enables next day delivery). As it grows its operations network, Amazon Australia has also continued to grow its team, creating hundreds of permanent operations jobs around the country since last Prime Day, with exciting career opportunities, competitive pay, and benefits such as paid parental leave and highly subsidised health insurance. Amazon also plans to onboard more than 1,000 seasonal workers around Australia to provide additional support for its fulfilment and logistics team over the mid-year sales and Amazon Prime Day.
