Amazon.com.au to donate a further AU$5 per toy bought in this year’s Prime Day Shopping Event happening on 15 and 16 July

SYDNEY, Monday 15 July: Amazon Australia today announced its partnership with the Starlight Children’s Foundation (Starlight) to deliver smiles to seriously ill children during the July school holidays.

To provide sick kids and their families with some relief during what can be a difficult time, Amazon.com.au will deliver AU$50,000 worth of toys, games, arts & crafts and gift cards to the ten Starlight Express Rooms in children’s hospitals across Australia.

Each month, children and their families make over 15,000 visits to Starlight Express Rooms nationally and over the last two years Starlight has seen a 26 per cent increase in the need for its rooms.

Alongside the mass delivery, Amazon.com.au has committed to donating AU$5 for every toy sold by Amazon AU during this year’s Prime Day Shopping Event*. Prime members in Australia will have access to tens of thousands of epic deals on 15 and 16 July, with an extra 17 hours of deals straight from the U.S. available direct from Amazon.com.au.

Louise Baxter, Starlight CEO, says, “We know happiness matters to a sick child’s development and the work we do in children’s hospitals nationally is only made possible through community support. We’re excited to partner with Amazon Australia and believe their donated goods and services will deliver happiness to kids in hospital, while funds raised from Amazon Australia’s Prime Day Shopping promotion will enable us to give more sick kids and their families access to our Starlight Express Rooms as the demand for this service grows.”

Arno Lenior, Director of Prime at Amazon.com.au said, “This Prime Day we’re proud to support Starlight and deliver smiles to ill children. We hope our support can help give sick kids and their families a bit of break during the school holidays, as well as helping Starlight continue with their much-needed services into the future.”

Amazon Australia’s toy drop off will commence on Prime Day, Monday 15th July, and will continue throughout the month of July, delivering product and gift cards to all ten Starlight Express Rooms which are located across Australia.
