New fulfilment centre to create more than 1000 local jobs working alongside assistive technologies

An additional 2000 jobs will be created during construction and fit out

LOGAN – 11 March 2026 – Amazon Australia today unveiled plans to invest more than $750M building Queensland’s first Amazon Robotics fulfilment centre (FC) in North Maclean, furthering its commitment to faster delivery for Queensland customers. Targeted for completion in 2028, the new FC will create more than 1,000 local jobs once fully operational, with competitive pay and the opportunity to work alongside assistive technology. The construction and fit out of the state-of-the-art facility will create an additional 2000 jobs.

Equipped with the latest Amazon technology, the fulfilment centre will cover 150,000sqm across four levels – with a floor size equivalent to 18 rugby league fields and almost double the size of Suncorp Stadium. Set to become one of the largest warehouses ever built in Queensland, it will have the capacity to house up to 15million of the smaller items sold on Amazon.com.au such as pantry staples, beauty products, electronics and toys. When operating at full capacity, the fulfilment centre will have the ability to process millions of packages per year, including items from Queensland -based small and medium businesses who use Amazon to reach customers across Australia.

This site will offer a diverse range of quality job opportunities in a high-tech, safe, industry-leading workplace ranging from engineering, IT, HR and operations to entry level roles with on-the-job training. The advanced technology in this new fulfilment centre drives demand for roles in innovative fields such as robotics maintenance, systems operations and technical support. Once fully operational, the majority of jobs will be permanent roles, with competitive pay and exceptional benefits such as highly subsidised health insurance and up to 20-weeks paid parental leave.

In Amazon robotic warehouses, technological innovation is designed to work alongside employees, handling the heavy lifting and repetitive tasks so people can focus on work that requires human judgement and skill. Each robot at the new FC can lift 500kg, communicate with employees through wearable Wi-Fi transmitters and make smart decisions using centralised planning software – including how to respond safely during power outages.

Amazon Australia’s Director of Operations, Wayne Angus said, “We’re proud to continue investing in our Queensland operations network to enhance our ability to serve customers across the state, while creating more than 1,000 new jobs in a safe and positive work environment. People are at the heart of our operations, and by combining innovative robotics technology with skilled local talent in this state-of-the-art site, we’re building a workplace where people and technology work hand in hand to deliver for our customers. This investment demonstrates Amazon’s commitment to Queensland customers and our confidence in the state’s growing economy.”

“We are grateful to the Queensland Government’s support in making this investment possible, and advocating for an innovating industry. We look forward to supporting the local community as we partner with schools and community groups around the new facility, and creating new opportunities for the Queensland-based small and medium businesses who use Amazon to seamlessly service customers across the country."

The Hon Jarrod Bleijie, Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning and Minister for Industrial Relations said, “The Crisafulli Government has made it clear that Queensland is open for business again. This Amazon investment is proof of what happens when a government chooses to back industry and this is exactly the kind of economic momentum Queensland deserves and that the Crisafulli Government is proud to back. EDQ also approved this application in record time – just 35 business days.  It’s the fastest approval Amazon has received for any project in Australia to date.

The Hon Ros Bates MP, Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training said, “The Crisafulli Government is removing barriers for business, opening doors and welcoming investment - and it’s clear the world is watching. This new facility will be a huge boost for local businesses which sell through Amazon. It’ll help them grow by reaching more customers, delivering a better lifestyle through a stronger economy.”

Mayor of Logan, Jon Raven said, “The City of Logan is the perfect place for Amazon Australia to invest. We’re the youngest and fastest growing city in Queensland, and our communities want the opportunity to work close to home. That’s why attracting high-paying technology jobs to Logan is so important. Projects like this robotic fulfilment centre bring new opportunities and help create the kind of careers our young people should not have to leave the city to find. I want our kids and grandkids to be able to build their future right here in Logan, working in the industries that will shape the next generation of jobs.”

Construction has commenced on the fulfillment centre, strategically located at Charter Hall’s Flagstone Logistics Estate, a 10-hectare site in the city of Logan with immediate access to the Mount Lindesay Highway – a key north-south arterial route enabling efficient delivery throughout South Brisbane.

This will be Amazon’s second fulfilment centre in Queensland, supporting the existing fulfilment centre in Lytton, and logistics sites in Heathwood and Arundel (Gold Coast), increasing its capacity to delight customers with fast delivery, great value and wide selection.
