Faster than ever free Same-Day Delivery service now available to majority of people in Canberra on eligible orders over $49

Thursday 4 June, 2026: Prime members in Canberra can now order from over a million products as late as 11am for delivery before 10pm that day, giving Canberra customers the ability to get what they need delivered to their door in just hours.

A huge selection of products across categories including everyday essentials, small appliances and electronics, home and kitchen, beauty, books, toys, clothes, shoes and more are now eligible for Same-Day Delivery. To find items eligible for Prime Free Same-Day Delivery, Prime members can look for items marked with Prime delivery 'Today by 10pm’ or the ‘Prime Free Same-Day’ badge on product detail pages on the Amazon App or website.

Matt Benham, Country Manager for Amazon Australia, said, “Speed and convenience are at the heart of our delivery investment in Australia, and we’re excited to announce a game-changing offering for the people of Canberra with the launch of free same-day delivery. We’re seeing more demand from our customers for fast and convenient delivery options that fit within their busy lives.”

"For Prime members in Canberra, we're now delivering the products they want and need faster than ever, as quickly as the same evening. We’re proud to be able to offer such a diverse selection of products available for Same-Day Delivery, so whether you need anything from a new small kitchen appliance, a set of headphones for your commute, or even a present for a last-minute kid’s birthday party, we’ve got you covered."

Amazon Australia aims to expand product selection and delivery areas eligible for Amazon’s Prime Free Same-Day Delivery and One-Day Delivery, to provide more Australian Prime members access to even more products, faster. Prime members outside of Same-Day or One-Day eligible locations can still benefit from free delivery in as fast as two days on eligible orders.

Amazon’s continued investment in Australia for customers and sellers

In 2025 Amazon Australia delivered at its fastest speeds ever for Australian Prime members and has significantly invested in and expanded its operations network to enable a seamless, faster, and more reliable shopping experience for customers. In fact, between 2024 and 2027 Amazon Australia will have invested $1.6 billion opening five new operational sites, which will create an additional 4,500 jobs once fully operational. Additionally, in 2025, Amazon Australia created more than 1,500 permanent roles across its operational network around the country. Amazon Australia now has eight fulfilment centres, and 12 logistics sites.

Since 2011, Amazon has invested more than $35 billion across all our businesses in Australia, including investments that continue improving delivery experience for customers. This means that even more Amazon customers around Australia are now able to access an enhanced delivery experience, including faster delivery, delivery on evenings and weekends, and reattempted deliveries for customers when they are not home.

Faster delivery such as Same-Day Delivery also enables selling partners to get their products to more customers fast. Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) is a fulfilment method available for sellers on Amazon.com.au, built to enable third party sellers to make the most of Amazon's advanced logistics network. FBA sellers just need to send their product to one of Amazon’s fulfilment centres and Amazon then stores, picks, packs and ships the seller’s order to customers. Amazon also takes care of customer service issues and handles any returns or refunds on behalf of the FBA seller. All products enrolled into FBA are eligible for Prime delivery, meaning that selling partners in the program may see their products delivered to Prime members in Sydney, Perth and Canberra the very same day.

According to Mandala Partners research, businesses gained $1.4 billion in sales revenue from faster Business-to-Customer deliveries over the last decade. This, combined with the potential to save $400 million through swifter access to inventory, means Australian businesses stand to unlock $1.8 billion of value thanks to fast delivery.

Since joining amazon.com.au in late 2024, Canberra small business Barbell Foods has been able to grow their online sales of air-dried steak biltong by connecting with a wider range of Australians. Ashley Laing, Marketing Manager at Barbell said, "Speed matters to today's shoppers, and knowing that locals can now order our products before breakfast and have them by dinner is awesome".

In April 2026 Amazon launched fresh groceries in Canberra through its partnership with family-owned Harris Farm Markets. Customers in more than 50 suburbs across Canberra can shop thousands of products, including seasonal fruit and veg, quality meats and specialty products, with same and next-day delivery via Amazon.com.au.
