Australian Olympian and World Champion swimmer Kyle Chalmers OAM clocks Amazon’s PB or “Prime Best” time for delivery in Adelaide

New research uncovers that three in five Adelaideans traditionally wait three business days or more on average for online purchases to arrive, while four in five say free and fast delivery is one of the leading factors in online purchasing decisions

Thursday 6 August 2026: Prime members in Adelaide can now order as late as midnight for free next-day delivery on eligible orders with no minimum spend, making it even more convenient to shop on Amazon.com.au.

More than half a million products across categories including everyday essentials, electronics, home and kitchen, beauty, video games, books, toys and clothing are now eligible for Prime Free One-Day Delivery in Adelaide. To find items eligible for Prime Free One-Day Delivery, Prime members can look for items marked with ‘Prime FREE One-Day’ or ‘Prime One-Day’ on product detail pages on the Amazon App or website.

Orders will be collected by Amazon delivery partners at the Amazon Delivery Station located in Cavan, and delivered to the majority of Adelaide postcodes, as far north as Two Wells, Dublin, Lyndoch and Williamstown, as west as Birdwood and Mount Barker and as south as Sellicks Beach.

To celebrate the launch, Amazon Australia has enlisted the help of World Champion swimmer and local Adelaidean, Kyle Chalmers OAM, to help keep track of Amazon’s delivery PB or “Prime Best” delivery time.

The One-Day Delivery service comes as new research from YouGov commissioned by Amazon, has found that more than three in five (64 per cent) Adelaide residents traditionally wait three business days or more for online purchases to arrive, while four in five (86 per cent) say free and/or fast delivery is one of the most important factors when making an online purchase.

Matt Benham, Country Manager for Amazon Australia, said, “When customers shop online, they want to know they are getting a great price and that their order will be delivered to them fast, with no additional costs. Prime membership gives you just that, and we’re excited to announce launch of free One-Day delivery in Adelaide, delivering Prime members the products they want and need faster than ever.”

“We think this will be a real gamechanger in Adelaide and we’re proud to be able to offer such a diverse selection of products available for One-Day Delivery, so whether you need anything from a new small kitchen appliance, to a set of headphones for your commute, or even a present for a last-minute kid’s birthday party, we’ve got you covered."

Amazon Australia aims to expand product selection and delivery areas eligible for fast and free delivery, to provide more Australian Prime members access to even more products, faster. Prime members outside of eligible locations can still benefit from free delivery in as fast as two days on eligible orders.

Prime Free One-Day Delivery also benefits Aussie businesses on Amazon by getting their products into the hands of customers faster. Since joining Amazon.com.au, Adelaide small business frapete has been able to grow their online sales of wood and leather conditioners and expand across the country.

Peter Prokes, General Manager of frapete said, “The arrival of Prime Free One-Day Delivery is a real win for customers here in Adelaide. Whether they’ve run out of something they need for work, are looking for a last-minute gift or simply don’t want to wait several days for an online order, being able to get what they need the next day makes life that little bit easier.”

“For us as a small business, we know how important speed and convenience are for our customers too. It means we can get the products we need to keep our business running without having to plan days ahead, giving us more flexibility and allowing us to focus on what matters most - serving our customers.”

Amazon’s continued investment in Australia for customers and sellers

In 2025 Amazon Australia delivered at its fastest speeds ever for Australian Prime members and has significantly invested in and expanded its operations network to enable a seamless, faster, and more reliable shopping experience for customers. In fact, between 2024 and 2027 Amazon Australia will have invested $1.6 billion opening five new operational sites, which will create an additional 4,500 jobs once fully operational. Amazon Australia now has eight fulfilment centres, and 12 logistics sites.

Since 2011, Amazon has invested more than $35 billion across all our businesses in Australia, including investments that continue improving delivery experience for customers. This means that even more Amazon customers around Australia are now able to access an enhanced delivery experience, including faster delivery, delivery on evenings and weekends, and reattempted deliveries for customers when they are not home.

Faster delivery such as One-Day Delivery also enables selling partners to get their products to more customers fast. Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) is a fulfilment method available for sellers on Amazon.com.au, built to enable third party sellers to make the most of Amazon's advanced logistics network. FBA sellers just need to send their product to one of Amazon’s fulfilment centres and Amazon then stores, picks, packs and ships the seller’s order to customers. Amazon also takes care of customer service issues and handles any returns or refunds on behalf of the FBA seller. All products enrolled into FBA are eligible for Prime delivery, meaning that selling partners in the program may see their products delivered to Prime members in across the country with One-Day delivery.

According to Mandala Partners research, businesses gained $1.4 billion in sales revenue from faster Business-to-Customer deliveries over the last decade. This, combined with the potential to save $400 million through swifter access to inventory, means Australian businesses stand to unlock $1.8 billion of value thanks to fast delivery.
