Australia, 28 September 2021 - Amazon Australia today announced plans to onboard around 1,000 seasonal workers for the holiday season, with jobs available at its fulfilment centres and Amazon Logistics sites across the country.

The company is looking for workers with a range of experience and skill levels to help pick, pack and ship orders over the festive season. These are new seasonal job opportunities that provide extra income during the holiday season, offering Australians the opportunity to earn competitive pay in a safe and supportive work environment.

These seasonal opportunities can also present a path to employment with - and a longer-term career at - Amazon. Amanda Hadaway’s career at Amazon began with a seasonal position at Amazon’s Brisbane fulfilment centre packing customer orders. She was offered a permanent role and promoted and is now a Process Assistant.

Amanda said she joined Amazon for the growth opportunities, and encourages those looking for work in the lead up to Christmas to apply: “The potential for growth is so big and it’s a great environment which makes the time fly. It is enjoyable and also really rewarding to know customers are getting their orders on time.”

Craig Fuller, Director of Operations, Amazon Australia said, “We are pleased to offer job opportunities across the country at a time when they are needed most. There are opportunities for motivated, enthusiastic people from all backgrounds and we look forward to welcoming them to our sites around Australia as we head into the holiday period.”

Lisa Raymond, a Process Assistant at Melbourne’s Dandenong South fulfilment centre encourages those looking for a new role, to join Amazon. She initially began as a seasonal worker before accepting a permanent role at Amazon Australia. Lisa now manages a team of associates in the outbound ‘Pack’ area, supporting them as they pack orders to be shipped to customers.

“I love the role as I enjoy conversing with my team members, solving problems and knowing that at the end of the day I will make a lot of customers happy as they receive their orders promptly.”

“With my future here, I feel like I have so many opportunities. I have been trained in many areas of the business and have had the opportunity to provide input into the design of our new pack stations,” added Lisa.

The announcement of seasonal jobs follows a year of job creation across Amazon’s Australian operations network, including the creation of more than 600 new permanent roles at Amazon sites in 2021. Seasonal opportunities may open doors to employment with Amazon. Amazon employees earn industry leading pay, and comprehensive benefits including subsidised healthcare and paid parental leave – as well as opportunities to grow their career with the company.

Amazon has five fulfilment centres and 12 Amazon Logistics sites operating in Australia, with sites in Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Australian customers can shop more than 125 million items from 31 categories on Amazon.com.au.

Amazon continues to place tremendous value and focus on the wellbeing and safety of its team. In response to the pandemic, Amazon has invested more than $11.5bn USD in COVID-19 related initiatives to help keep its workforce safe while getting items to customers. More than 150 COVID safety measures have been implemented in Amazon operations sites globally such as compulsory face coverings, mandatory social distancing, conducting temperature checks and staggered shift times.
